Two resilient little girls will receive an incredible opportunity to meet some of their heroes when Kosair for Kids takes the children on a trip to Fort Worth for the Shriners Children’s Showdown at the Net. The University of Kentucky volleyball team and the University of Louisville volleyball team will play separate games in the showcase event on ESPN on Wednesday, September 10. The day before, on Tuesday, September 9, the Kosair Kids will watch the Cards and Cats practice and participate in a meet-and-greet with the volleyball players.
Kosair Kid Luciana is an eight-year-old Leukemia survivor from Lexington, while eleven-year-old Nora, from Louisville, underwent a rare transplant surgery. Both girls benefited from the Kosair Kids Financial Assistance Program, which helped cover medical costs that families could not otherwise afford.
While we know you won’t be able to attend the experience in person, Kosair for Kids will coordinate video, sound, and still images you can use in your news gathering. The stories that will emerge from this unique Kosair Kids experience will surely touch the hearts of all who care about watching children celebrate the power of joy and fans with an appetite for an inside look into how their favorite athletes deliver hope to kids who need a champion.
