Senior Director of Development

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Development works closely with the Senior Vice President of Development in the planning and execution of a comprehensive fundraising plan for Kosair for Kids. This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of qualified prospects with a focus on major and planned giving. The Sr. Director of Development will solicit and secure gifts through face-to-face individual and corporate solicitations.


  • Identify, engage, and successfully solicit individuals and corporations for the purposes of securing major, annual, and planned gifts for Kosair for Kids
  • Manage a portfolio of high-level prospects, developing individual solicitation plans to identify, cultivate and solicit philanthropic support
  • Create and work toward defined performance goals to include number of prospects in portfolio and meaningful donor encounters
  • Work collaboratively across departments to meet the strategic goals of the organization
  • Prepare and present proposals and gift agreements 
  • Work with team to plan and implement fundraising events and communications that effectively convey the mission of Kosair for Kids
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


  • Minimum of three years development or related sales experience
  • Proven track record of successful direct face-to-face solicitation
  • Experience using relationship management databases; Blackbaud experience preferred
  • Desire and ability to generate new ideas that increase revenue and donor loyalty
  • Task-oriented with ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Public speaking experience 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; strong work ethic
  • Available for night and weekend work assignments
