Kosair Charities® To Honor Two Distinguished Area Leaders at The Crystal Ball
The Roger Fox Award & Sam Swope Community Leadership Award to be given
This Saturday, October 1
(Louisville, KY – September 30, 2016): Kosair Charities is proud to announce the recipients of its 2016 Roger Fox Award and Sam Swope Community Leadership Award, both to be recognized during the reimagined Kosair Charities Crystal Ball taking place on Saturday, October 1 at the Kosair Shrine Center, 4120 Bardstown Road.
Dr. Stephen Church, is the recipient of 2016 The Roger Fox Award and Cissy Musselman, will receive the 2016 The Sam Swope Community Leadership Award.
The Roger Fox Award
Mr. Fox was a dedicated member of Kosair Charities who passed away prematurely, however, he never lost hope that all children would someday be able to run and play. This award recognizes a physician’s dedication to children.

Dr. Church is committed to advocacy for children’s causes and academics. He is a Clinical Professor in Pediatrics at University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Church is very active in the American Academy of Pediatrics and its advocacy programs, and also works with the Coalition for Healthy KY, KY Youth Advocates. He is the immediate past president of the KY Chapter of AAP and President of their Foundation. Dr. Church is now Chairman of the AAP Chapter Forum Committee and Chair of the Annual Leadership Forum Committee. Dr. Church also sits with the Board of Directors of the AAP representing those two committees. Dr. Church has or is serving on various National Task Forces, formerly represented five southern states as District IV CFMC and is now Chair of the Committee representing all districts of AAP. He is active in support of fighting childhood obesity, child abuse, Safe Haven, emergency preparedness, and academics. Dr. Church has written position papers, advised and reviewed bills for Child Causes to be introduced in Frankfort, and testified to several legislative groups and committees. Dr. Church was highly honored to be one of the supporters who spoke in the Capitol Rotunda at the introduction of the “Child Abuse” bill. Dr. Church and his lovely wife Diane have four great children and two grandsons.
The Sam Swope Community Leadership Award
This award recognizes an individual who has advanced children’s goals for the future through vision, innovation, and self-sacrifice.

Musselman's business and civic associations have included: Member of the American National Red Cross Board of Governors, Director of Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kentucky, Chair of the Louisville Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the 1976 Metro United Way Campaign, Chair of the Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau, Director of the Jewish Hospital St. Mary's Healthcare Board, Director of the African-American Heritage Foundation. She currently serves as a Director on the Louisville Regional Airport Authority and Director of the Greater Louisville Foundation.
Musselman is Founder of Women 4 Women, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise money and public awareness for programs dedicated to improving the Health and Economic Well-being of women and girls. Through the Champions 4 Her projects more than $1,000,000 has been raised for women’s programs and services. Some of her many awards include: Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service, Tom C. Simons Distinguished Leadership Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Community All American Award and more.
‘Crystal Ball,’ formally known as ‘Dreams Take Flight,’ was created to acknowledge and honor a select group of the area’s most distinguished members of the medical community, as well as to spotlight and garner awareness for the amazing work of a number of exceptional Kentucky and Southern Indiana charities.
