Kosair Charities Announces 2017-18 Gifts & Grants Recipients

Kosair Charities is proud to celebrate those that make a difference in the lives of children throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana with its annual Crystal Ball, which will be held on Saturday, October 7 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Kosair Shrine Center, located at 4120 Bardstown Road.

The Crystal Ball event was designed to acknowledge and honor a select group of the area’s most distinguished members of the medical community, as well as to spotlight and garner awareness for the amazing work of a number of exceptional Kentucky & Southern Indiana charities.

“This year’s celebration will continue to honor the hard work and dedication that our partnering agencies provide to our community,” stated Jerry Ward, Kosair Charities, Chairman of the Board. “Every one of these organizations makes a difference in the lives of Kosair Kids®.”


6:00 p.m. Cocktail reception with attendees and special award winners

7:30 p.m. Dinner begins

8:00 p.m. Award presentation recognizing Tori Murden McClure, Dr. Judy Theriot, MD, CPE, The Jones Family and the gifts and grants recipients.

The Randy Coe Service through Leadership Award

The Randy Coe Service through Leadership Award recipient reflects the moral values, compassion, and commitment to serving humanity exemplified in a leadership role in non-profit organizations. Randy's values, ethical conduct, and service above self are the key factors in choosing the individual to receive this award. The Randy Coe Service through Leadership Award shall be given to Tori Murden McClure.

The Roger Fox Award

The Roger Fox Award recognizes a physician whose dedication to children provides hope that all kids will one day be able to run and play. That was the hope Roger Fox had and never lost. Mr. Fox was a dedicated member of Kosair Charities who passed away prematurely and this award is given in his honor. The 2017 recipient of the Roger Fox Award goes to Dr. Judy Ann Theoriot, MD, CPE.

The Sam Swope Community Leadership Award        

The Sam Swope Community Leadership Award recognizes an individual or group who have advanced children’s goals for the future through vision, innovation, and self-sacrifice.  The 2017 recipient of the Sam Swope Community Leadership Award is the Jones Family.
