Custom Bike Gifted to Special Needs Child in New Albany

Kosair Charities helps provide custom bike to 6-year-old Brayden Gaddie after recent theft.

Louisville, KY— July 26, 2018 — Kosair Charities, the largest charity for children in the history of Kentucky and Southern Indiana, has committed to replacing the custom-made bike of special needs 6-year old Brayden Gaddie after it was recently stolen from their New Albany home.

“I received a call from a staff member informing me what had happened and I knew immediately we had to help,” said Keith Inman, President of Kosair Charities. “This has been the core of our mission since 1923, helping kids in need, and we are honored to assist Brayden and his family.”

The New Albany family had just moved into the neighborhood just days before six-year- old Brayden’s bike was stolen. The Huffy bike had custom features designed by family and friends such as the seat, handlebars, and pedals to improve lack of motion due to the six-year-old’s Cerebal palsy. The brand new bike, expected to be ready in 1-2 weeks, is being built by National Seating and Mobility and custom made for Brayden’s needs.

“As a mother I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the community,” said Brayden’s mother, Nicole Wilson. “The out pouring of love for a child they don’t even know. We never imagined such a response. We are truly blessed and will forever be grateful to Kosair Charities, National Seating and Mobility, and everyone who reached out with help of support from the Kentuckian area.”

The Kosair Kids ® Financial Assistance Program supports kids such a Brayden. If you know a child living in Kentucky or Southern Indiana who needs assistance with medical service referrals and financial support, please visit kosair.org/financial-assistance-program/.
