Charitable Remainder Trusts
 A trust is a legal instrument into which a person can place ownership of assets for specific purposes recorded in the trust document.
A Charitable Remainder Trust is a trust in which the remainder of assets must finally be transmitted to a qualified charitable organization.
Different types of Remainder Trusts are as follows:
- Pooled Income Fund - is a form of a Charitable Remainder Trust established by a nonprofit organization designed to accept gift assets from many donors who wish to retain income from their gift.
- Charitable Remainder Unitrust - designated trustee administers the assets to pay income to specified beneficiaries for the term of the trust after which the remaining assets are transmitted to a qualified charitable organization.
- Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust - a trust in which the designated trustee administers the assets to pay income to specified beneficiaries for the term of the trust, usually life or lives, after which the remaining assets are transmitted to a qualified charity.
- Charitable Lead Trust - a trust which provides an income stream to a charity after which the trustee returns the remainder to whomever the donor designates, usually to one's heirs.
